On 29 Sep 2026, UAP Globe, an independent UFO case-file site, posted a frame-by-frame analysis of the one clip of Krubeck's that Cowboy State Daily put on YouTube, a 43-second vertical phone video. Its tracking found that the seven to eleven bright points on screen all shift together by the same amount between frames, meaning the movement comes from the hand-held camera panning rather than from lights flying in different directions. That undercuts the main reason given for calling the footage unexplained. The site also measured color on the untouched frames and found one point that stays strongly red for the whole clip and another that reads blue-white. Steady red is what aircraft navigation lights and tower beacons look like, so the claim that the lights lacked aviation lighting isn't supported by this video either. Assuming the clip was shot on an evening around 24 Sep, the site checked planet positions with NASA JPL's Horizons ephemeris and found no planets in the western sky, but it placed the bright orange star Arcturus low in the west and blue-white Vega higher up, with a nearly full Moon washing out fainter stars. Its reading is that the clip shows a handful of bright stars swept across the frame by a moving phone. Caveats: this is one hobby site's analysis, which we haven't re-run; it assumes a late-September filming date that the Metabunk thread's NUFORC match calls into question; and it says plainly that the behavior Krubeck describes, such as lights rising, converging and stopping under a laser, doesn't appear in the published clip and so can't be tested from it. No agency has commented. Status stays open, still leaning prosaic, with the witness's own description the part no released footage covers. — Sources: UAP Globe, 'The Orbs Over Cedar Mountain, Cody, Wyoming, 25 September 2026' (published 29 Sep 2026): https://uapglobe.com/cases/cody-cedar-mountain-2026 · Cowboy State Daily (26 Sep 2026)

Update (Oct 7, 2026): Orbs over Spirit Mountain: Cody's Ridge Lights Return

The same Metabunk thread kept working the footage from 1 to 4 Oct 2026, and the skeptics' case got more specific. On 1–2 Oct one analyst traced the moving lights frame by frame, with help from an AI tracking tool, across four clips: the three attached to the two NUFORC reports and the one Cowboy State Daily posted on YouTube. Every path came out as a straight line, which is what satellites do, with no stops or turns. That cuts directly against the witness's description of lights that changed direction, approached each other and paused when he aimed a laser at them. The analyst's reading is that crossing paths on a flat screen look like interaction and that a laser beam in hazy air can make a slow light seem to stop, though that part is interpretation, not measurement. On 1 Oct another analyst noted that the still photos have a purple cast typical of consumer night-vision cameras, while the videos look like ordinary phone footage, so at least two devices may be involved. A third poster said the thread had linked the NUFORC reports to the newspaper's witness by the matching voice in the videos and stills that appear to come from the same session. Then on 4 Oct a fourth analyst posted a simulation in ResolveSky, a free satellite-visibility tool, showing Starlink satellites rising and flaring over Cedar Mountain on the evening of 14 Dec 2025, after about 8 p.m. local time. That is the date on NUFORC report 194754. The analysts still don't know exactly where or when each clip was shot, and they disagreed about the filming spot for one video. One of them emailed the Cowboy State Daily reporter on 1 Oct asking for times and places, and had no reply as of that post. Our caveats stand: these are volunteer readings, the tracing used AI assistance we haven't checked, and NUFORC still blocks us, so we haven't confirmed report 194754 ourselves. No agency has commented. Status stays open, now leaning hard toward winter satellite glints, with the witness's late-September account still the one piece the clips don't speak to. — Sources: Metabunk thread 'Wyoming Mystery Orbs', page 2 (posts 1–4 Oct 2026): https://www.metabunk.org/threads/wyoming-mystery-orbs.15112/page-2 · NUFORC reports 194754 and 194812, as cited in that thread (not independently opened by the ledger): https://nuforc.org/sighting/?id=194754 · Cowboy State Daily (26 Sep 2026)

Update (Oct 6, 2026): Orbs over Spirit Mountain: Cody's Ridge Lights Return

The first sky-chart work on Krubeck's footage has surfaced, and it raises a dating problem. On 29–30 Sep 2026, volunteer analysts on Metabunk, a forum that investigates UFO claims and is openly skeptical, matched a bright three-star line in the published video to Altair, Tarazed and Alshain in Aquila, low in the western sky. They read the clips as satellite flares, meaning brief sun glints off Starlink-type satellites, and pointed out that from Cody those glints sit in the western sky after dark in winter, not in late September. Taking the late-September date at face value, one analyst put the star positions at roughly 1:40 a.m. local time, outside the zone where flares can happen. Then on 30 Sep the same thread reported finding a National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) entry, report 194754, logged for Cody on 14 Dec 2025, with attached photos the thread says also appear in the Cowboy State Daily story, plus a second report (194812) whose video shows the red beacon on a nearby antenna. Both NUFORC reports describe the lights coming up behind Rattlesnake Mountain, the next ridge north, rather than Cedar Mountain. The thread did not fully agree with itself: one analyst concluded the NUFORC videos were shot from a different spot than the newspaper's still. If the photo match holds, at least some of the published imagery dates to last winter and is not evidence that the lights came back in September. Two caveats. These are forum users' readings, not an official finding. And NUFORC's pages block automated access, so we have not opened report 194754 ourselves to confirm the date or the photo match, and we don't know who filed it. Krubeck's statement that he saw the lights again in late September still stands as his account. Status stays open. The skeptics' explanation, satellite glints filmed last winter, is now specific enough to test against the NUFORC timestamps. — Sources: Metabunk thread 'Wyoming Mystery Orbs' (posts 29–30 Sep 2026): https://www.metabunk.org/threads/wyoming-mystery-orbs.15112/ · NUFORC reports 194754 and 194812, as cited in that thread (not independently opened by the ledger): https://nuforc.org/sighting/?id=194754 · Cowboy State Daily (26 Sep 2026)

Case file opened: Orbs over Spirit Mountain: Cody's Ridge Lights Return

A Cody, Wyoming resident says the white lights he watched rise over Cedar Mountain all last winter came back in late September 2026.
