Suggested day loops built from Places files we have already cited. Public trailheads, parks, and museums only — no private land, no off-trail treasure routes.

Superstition Mountains day loop
Peralta, Lost Dutchman State Park, and First Water in one East Valley day — three public trailheads under the Dutchman legend, with agency-sourced access notes and no treasure maps.
-
Verde Valley history day
Three public stops across the valley: the Sinagua cliff dwelling at Montezuma Castle National Monument, the 1870s army post at Fort Verde State Historic Park, and the Douglas Mansion museum high above the copper town of Jerome. Agency-sourced notes, with the Yavapai-Apache Nation’s own history linked rather than retold.
-
Rim country day: Tonto Natural Bridge, Pine & Strawberry
Up SR 87 past Payson to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, which Arizona State Parks says may be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world, then lunch in Pine and the climb to Strawberry. Agency and business sources only, with a dated flood-closure notice and the bridge’s three “discovery” dates.

Payson and the Mogollon Rim: Shoofly Village, the Rim Lake Vista Trail & Green Valley Park
A Rim country day out of Payson: the stone footings of Shoofly Village, a walk along the edge of the Mogollon Rim on the paved Rim Lake Vista Trail (the visitor center is closed for the season), then Green Valley Park and the Rim Country Museum back in town. Archaeology, a campfire legend’s thin paper trail, and real Rim hazards.
